Vehicle Speed Sensor: Description and Operation

Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit:

The Vehicle Speed Sensor, located on the right rear of the transmission, produces 4 pulses (switch closures to ground) for every revolution of the final drive gear. This signal is used to drive the cableless speedometer system, and is used as a reference by the ECU when determining the operating parameters for the fuel and emissions systems.
