Cruise Control Cannot Be Set

- Check main switch. See MAIN SWITCH under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Check SET/RESUME switch. See SET/RESUME SWITCH under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Check cruise control unit inputs. See CRUISE CONTROL UNIT INPUT under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Check brakelight switch. See BRAKELIGHT SWITCH under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Check clutch switch on manual transmission vehicles. See CLUTCH SWITCH under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Check shift lever position switch on automatic transmission vehicles. See SHIFT LEVER POSITION SWITCH under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If trouble shooting a 1991 model, go to next step. If trouble shooting a 1992 model, go to step 4).
- On 1991 models, check ground connection G302 located in left front corner of engine compartment. G302 is a single wire ground connection located behind G301, a multi-wire connector sharing one common ground. Check ground connection G401 located under middle of dashboard near base of windshield. There are 2 ground connections at one point, G401 is located behind G402 (G401 is closest to vehicle). Check ground connection G471 located at right front corner of trunk area. Check ground connection G701 located under middle of dashboard, on top left corner of dashboard center console frame. Repair ground connections as necessary. Go to step 5).
- On 1992 models, check ground connection G401 located under right side of dashboard near base of windshield. Check ground connection G402 located on left side of left side rail on center console. G402 is a 2-wire ground connection sharing one common ground. Check ground connection G403 located on top of left side rail on center console. G403 is a single-wire ground connection. Repair ground connections as necessary. Go to next step.
- Inspect the following wires for open circuit:
- Black/Red wire between underdash fuse No. 10 (7.5 amp) and main switch (1991 only.)
- Black/Red wire between underdash fuse No. 14 (7.5 amp) and main switch (1992 only.)
- Light Green wire between main switch and cruise control unit connector. Light Green wire also splices over to brakelight switch. Repair wires as necessary.
