Brake Switch Signal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Honda Odyssey. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: This signal informs the PCM when the brake pedal is depressed.
  1. If brakelights are on without depressing brake pedal, check brakelight switch and repair or replace as necessary. If brakelights are not on, depress brake pedal. If brakelights come on, go to next step. If brakelights do not come on, check power feed circuit (including fuse) between brakelight switch and fuse box. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  section. Repair as necessary.
  2. Measure voltage between PCM connector terminals A9 and D5. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, brake switch signal is okay. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in wire between PCM connector terminal D5 and brakelight switch harness connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  section.
