Fail-Safe Function

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Honda Odyssey, 2003 Honda Odyssey, 2002 Honda Odyssey, 2001 Honda Odyssey, and 2000 Honda Odyssey. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

When a power sliding door is in the half-latched position, the obstruction detection function is off. If the corresponding power sliding door control unit receives any signal from the dash switch, the remote control switch (inner or outer sliding door handles), or the factory keyless receiver while in the half latched position, the control unit sounds the buzzer 3 times and activates the release motor. The release motor pulls the fail-safe lever to mechanically disengage the closer motor from the latch. Once the latch and the closer motor are disengaged, the slide motor will partially open the door (about one foot).
