Throttle Body Removal/Installation

CAUTION: Do not insert your fingers into the installed throttle body when you turn the ignition switch ON (II) or while the ignition switch is ON (II). If you do, you will seriously injure your finger if the throttle valve is activated.
NOTE: If you are replacing the throttle body, begin at step 1. If you are removing the throttle body, begin at step  4.
  1. Connect the HDS while the engine is stopped.
  2. Select the INSPECTION MENU with the HDS.
  3. Do the TP POSITION CHECK in the ETCS TEST.
  4. Remove the intake air duct (A).

  5. Disconnect the throttle body connector (B), the EVAP canister purge valve connector (C) and the MAP sensor connector (D).
  6. Disconnect the water bypass hoses (E), and plug them.
  7. Disconnect the vacuum hose (F).
  8. Remove the harness clip (G) and the throttle body (H).
  9. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal with a new gasket (I), then check these items:
    • Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure after the throttle body is replaced (see ECM/PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE ).
    • Refill the radiator with engine coolant (see COOLANT CHECK ), and bleed air from the cooling system with the heater valve open.
