Rocker Arm Oil Control Solenoid (VTEC Solenoid Valve) Inspection

  1. Disconnect the rocker arm oil control solenoid (VTEC solenoid valve) connector and the rocker arm oil pressure switch (VTEC oil pressure switch) connector.
  2. Remove the rocker arm oil control solenoid (VTEC solenoid valve) assembly from the cylinder head (see ROCKER ARM OIL CONTROL SOLENOID (VTEC SOLENOID VALVE) ASSEMBLY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION  ).
  3. Measure resistance between rocker arm oil control solenoid (VTEC solenoid valve) 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.

    Resistance: 14-30 ohms

  4. If the resistance is within specifications, check the rocker arm oil control solenoid (VTEC solenoid valve) filter (A) for clogging. If it is clogged, replace the rocker arm oil control solenoid (VTEC solenoid valve) filter, the engine oil filter, and the engine oil.
