Navigation Communication Line Circuit Troubleshooting

  1. Operate the climate control system in several modes.

    Is the climate control system OK? 

    YES  -Go to step 2.

    NO  -Do the Self-Diagnostic Function with the HDS (see HOW TO USE THE SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION WITH THE HDS  ) or the climate control unit (see HOW TO USE THE SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION WITHOUT THE HDS  ).

  2. Do the System Links in navigation System Diagnostic Mode (see SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC MODE ).

    Is the A/C icon red? 

    YES  -Go to step 3.

    NO  -Go to step  9.

  3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  4. Disconnect navigation unit connector B (32P).
  5. Disconnect climate control unit connector B (12P).
  6. Check for continuity between the following terminals of climate control unit connector B (12P) and navigation unit connector B (32P).

    12P: 32P: 

    No. 10 No. 28

    No. 11 No. 13

    No. 12 No. 29

    Is there continuity? 

    YES  -Go to step 7.

    NO  -Repair an open in the wire(s) between the climate control unit and the navigation unit.

  7. Check for continuity between body ground and climate control unit connector B (12P) terminals No. 10, No. 11, and No. 12 individually.

    Is there continuity? 

    YES  -Repair a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the climate control unit and the navigation unit.

    NO  -Go to step 8.

  8. Reconnect climate control unit connector B (12P).
  9. Connect navigation unit connector B (32P) terminals No. 13, and No. 29 with a jumper wire.

  10. Press and hold both the AUTO button and the ON/OFF button, then turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  11. Check the mode indicator displaying in the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit.

    Is the HEAT/VENT indicator solid with the remaining icons blinking? 

    YES  -Do the Unit Check in the navigation System Diagnostic Mode (see UNIT CHECK (QUICK CHECK) ).

    NO  -Substitute a known-good climate control unit, and recheck. If the symptom goes away, replace the original climate control unit (see CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION  ).
