How to Check the Audio System Condition

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2017 Honda Odyssey, 2016 Honda Odyssey, 2015 Honda Odyssey, 2014 Honda Odyssey, and 2013 Honda Odyssey. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The audio system has a self-diagnostic function to help find problems with the audio system. To run the self-diagnostic function, do the following:

NOTE:
  • Check the vehicle battery condition first (see BATTERY TEST ).
  • Not all self-diagnostic functions appear on all models.
  • There may be other self-diagnostic functions that are for factory use only.
  • The self-diagnostic function does not find every problem with the audio system.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II). Make sure the audio system is turned off.
  2. Press and hold the preset No. 1 and No. 6 buttons.
  3. While holding the buttons, push the VOLUME/POWER knob.
  4. Release the buttons, and the self-diagnosis begins.

With navigation

  1. 5. When you are in the self-diagnostic mode, pressing a preset button starts the diagnostic mode that is assigned to that preset button. To exit this mode, go to step 7. Once you exit this test, you must start again at step  1.

    No. 1 button: 

    Active noise cancellation system check mode

    No. 2 button: 

    Audio button, knob, and audio remote switch detection mode

    No. 3 button: 

    Entire LCD lighting/light-out mode

    No. 4 button: 

    Duty indication mode (for the Illumination dim)

    No. 5 button: 

    Vehicle speed pulse (VSP) indication mode

    CDL button or CD/CDL button: 

    Record control mode

    FM button or AM button (Press and hold 5 sec): 

    Reception level indication mode

  2. 6. The self-diagnostic mode ends when you turn off the audio unit or turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
