USB device does not function (without navigation)
- Check the vehicle battery condition first (see BATTERY TEST ).
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Check the USB device requirement:
- Mass-storage class ready digital audio player with USB 2.0 port
- More than 256 MB of RAM
- Support MP3, WMA, and AAC (encoded with the iTunes) files, DRM files are not supported
- Not all players and player functions work with the USB adapter. Please see the Owner's Manual for more information. Always test the customers USB device in a known-good vehicle of the same year and trim (if possible). Technologies change and are updated frequently which may result that USB devices may work in newer vehicles, but not in order vehicles of the same model.
- If UNSUPPORTED appears on the display, the vehicle is OK, there is a software problem with the USB device.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Turn on the audio system.
- Press the USB/AUX button to select USB mode.NOTE: Do not connect the USB device.
Is USB NO DATA displayed in the audio display?
YES -Go to step 4.
NO -Go to step 16.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Connect the customer's USB device to a known-good vehicle (same year/trim) that is equipped with a USB adapter, and check the USB device operation.
Is the USB device working properly in the known-good vehicle?
YES -Go to step 6.
NO -If the display panel displays UNSUPPORTED or MEDIA ERROR, the USB device may not be unsupported or is defective. If the display panel displays USB NO MUSIC, the USB device may have no music files or wrong type music files are on the device. See the Owner's Manual for details on USB device requirements and approved file types.
- On the customer's vehicle, connect the customer's USB device to the USB port.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Turn on the audio system.
- Check the USB device operation in the customer's vehicle.
Does the USB device work properly in the customer's vehicle?
YES -The system is OK at this time. Inspect the connectors of the USB device, USB port and USB adapter for wear.
NO -Go to step 10.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- On the customer's vehicle, remove the USB device.
- Disconnect audio display-USB adapter control unit connector B (7P).
- Check for continuity between audio display-USB adapter control unit connector B (7P) and the USB port 5P connector according to the table.AUDIO DISPLAY-USB ADAPTER CONTROL UNIT CONNECTOR REFERENCE CHART

Is there continuity?
YES -Replace the audio display-USB adapter control unit (see AUDIO DISPLAY-USB ADAPTER CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ), then recheck.
NO -Go to step 14.
- Disconnect the USB adapter 5P connector.
- Check for continuity between audio display-USB adapter control unit connector B (7P) and the USB adapter 5P connector according to the table.AUDIO DISPLAY-USB ADAPTER CONTROL UNIT CONNECTOR REFERENCE CHART

Is there continuity?
YES -Replace the USB adapter, then recheck.
NO -There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio display-USB adapter control unit and the USB adapter. Replace the affected shielded harness.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Check for poor connections or loose terminals at audio display-USB adapter control unit connector B (7P).
Are the connections OK?
YES -Go to step 18.
NO -Repair or reconnect the connector, and recheck.
- Disconnect audio unit connector D (14P) and audio display-USB adapter control unit connector A (32P).
- Check for continuity between audio display-USB adapter control unit connector A (32P) and audio unit connector D (14P) according to the table:AUDIO UNIT CONNECTOR REFERENCE CHART

Is there continuity?
YES -Go to step 20.
NO -There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the audio display-USB adapter control unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
- Disconnect the HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector and XM receiver connector A (14P).
- Check for continuity between body ground and audio unit connector D (14P) according to the table.AUDIO UNIT CONNECTOR REFERENCE CHART

YES -There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the audio display-USB adapter control unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO -Go to step 22.
- Check for continuity between the terminals of audio unit connector D (14P) according to the table.TERMINALS REFERENCE CHART
From terminal To terminals D4 (GRY) D11 (YEL), D12 (BRN) D11 (YEL) D12 (BRN) Is there continuity between any of the terminals?
YES -There is a short in the wires between the audio unit and the audio display-USB adapter control unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO -Substitute a known-good audio display-USB adapter control unit (see AUDIO DISPLAY-USB ADAPTER CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ), then reconnect all of the connectors, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio display-USB adapter control unit (see AUDIO DISPLAY-USB ADAPTER CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ). If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the audio unit (see AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
