Ambient Temperature Sensor / Switch HVAC: Service and Repair






Outside Air Temperature Sensor Removal, Installation, and Test

Removal

1. Outside Air Temperature Sensor





1. Disconnect the outside air temperature sensor connector (A).

2. Lift the tab (B) to release the lock, and remove the outside air temperature sensor (C).

Test

NOTE: Before testing the sensor, check for climate control DTCs.

1. Outside Air Temperature Sensor - Test





1. Dip the sensor in ice water, and measure the resistance. Then pour warm water on the sensor, and check for a change in resistance.

2. Compare the resistance reading between terminals No. 1 and No. 2 of the outside air temperature sensor with the specifications shown in the graph; the resistance should be within the specifications.

3. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the outside air temperature sensor.

Installation

1. Outside Air Temperature Sensor





1. Install the outside air temperature sensor (A).

2. Connect the outside air temperature sensor connector (B).
