Navigation Communication Line Circuit Troubleshooting
- Operate the climate control system in several modes.
Is the climate control system OK?
YES -Go to step 2.
NO -Do the Self-Diagnostic Function with the HDS (see HOW TO USE THE SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION WITH THE HDS ) or the climate control unit (see HOW TO USE THE SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION WITHOUT THE HDS ).
- Do the System Links in Navigation System Diagnostic Mode (see
SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC MODE
).
Is the A/C icon red?
YES -Go to step 3.
NO -Go to step 9.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect audio-navigation unit connector D (12P).
- Disconnect climate control unit 36P connector.
- Check for continuity between the following terminals of climate control unit 36P connector and audio-navigation unit connector D (12P).
36P 12P:
No. 8 No. 7
No. 9 No. 2
No. 10 No. 1

Is there continuity?
YES -Go to step 7.
NO -Repair an open in the wire(s) between the climate control unit and the audio-navigation unit.
- Check for continuity between body ground and climate control unit 36P connector terminals No. 8, No. 9, and No. 10 individually.Fig 2: Checking Continuity Between Body Ground And Climate Control Unit 36P Connector Terminals No. 8, No. 9, And No. 10

Is there continuity?
YES -Repair a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the climate control unit and the audio-navigation unit.
NO -Go to step 8.
- Reconnect climate control unit 36P connector.
- Connect audio-navigation unit connector D (12P) terminals No. 1, No. 2, and No. 7 with jumper wires.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Press and hold the AUTO button, then press and hold the ON/OFF button.
Is the HEAT/VENT indicator solid with the remaining icons blinking?
YES -Do the unit check with the navigation (see UNIT CHECK (QUICK CHECK) ).
NO -Substitute a known-good climate control unit, and recheck. If the symptom goes away, replace the original climate control unit (see CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
