Lubricants and Fluids

For details of lubrication points and type of lubricants to be applied, refer to various work procedures (such as Assembly/Reassembly, Replacement, Overhaul, Installation, etc.) contained in each section.

LUBRICANTS SPECIFICATION TABLE

Lubrication Points Lubricant
A Engine Honda Motor Oil: 0W-20
Look for the API certification seal on the oil container
Make sure it says "For Gasoline Engines." SAE viscosity: See Fig 1.
B Manual transmission Honda Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF):
Always use Honda MTF. Using motor oil can cause stiffer shifting because it does not contain the proper additives.
Automatic transmission Honda Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF DW-1):
Always use Honda ATF DW-1. Using a non-Honda ATF can affect shift quality.
C Brake system (including ABS or VSA lines) Honda DOT 3 Brake Fluid:
Always use Honda DOT 3 Brake Fluid. Using a non-Honda brake fluid can cause corrosion and decrease the life of the system.
D Clutch line (manual transmission)
