Throttle Body Carbon Accumulation Check: Test

  1. HDS - Connect

    1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, but do not turn the vehicle to the READY TO DRIVE mode.

    2. Connect the HDS to the DLC (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.

    3. Make sure the HDS communicates with the PCM and other vehicle systems. If it doesn't, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting - Refer to: DLC Circuit Troubleshooting(PGM-FI System) (2014 2015), or DLC Circuit Troubleshooting(PGM-FI System) (2017)

  2. Throttle Body - Test
    1. Enter the maintenance mode, then start the engine 

    2. Hold the engine speed at 3, 000 RPM without load (in P or N) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.

    3. Check the SOC in the DATA LIST with the HDS. If the reading is below 35 %, keep idling until the SOC reaches 35 %.

    4. Check the REL TP SENSOR in the DATA LIST with the HDS. The reading should be below 2.97 deg. If it is not, clean the throttle body
