DTC 158-1: ECU Software Update Failure
NOTE:
- Do not turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) while updating the VSA modulator-control unit. If you turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) before completion, the VSA modulator-control unit will be damaged.
- BEFORE YOU TROUBLESHOOT, RECORD ALL FREEZE DATA AND ANY ON-BOARD SNAPSHOT, AND REVIEW THE HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THE VSA SYSTEM .

- VSA modulator-control unit check (update):
- 1. Update the VSA modulator-control unit if it does not have the latest software See VSA SENSOR NEUTRAL POSITION MEMORIZATION or VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT UPDATE or VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- 2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then turn it to ON (II) again.
- 3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC Freeze Frame
Is DTC 158-1 indicated?
YES : Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 38P connector. If the VSA modulator-control unit was updated and the symptom/indication is still present, replace the VSA modulator-control unit See VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT UPDATE or VSA SENSOR NEUTRAL POSITION MEMORIZATION .
NO : Troubleshooting is complete. If any other DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.
