Tailgate Outer Handle Switch Test/Replacement

  1. Remove the tailgate lower trim panel (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TAILGATE AREA ).
  2. Disconnect the 2P connector (A) from the tailgate outer handle switch.

  3. Check for continuity between tailgate outer handle switch 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.
    • There should be continuity when the tailgate outer handle is pulled.
    • There should be no continuity when the tailgate outer handle is released.
  4. Remove the tailgate outer handle (see TAILGATE HANDLE REPLACEMENT ).
  5. Remove the six screws and the outer cover (A).

  6. Remove the two screws and the tailgate outer handle switch (B).
