DTC P07BE
DTC P07BE: Transmission Park Position Sensor/Switch "A"/"B" Correlation
General Description
The transmission control module (TCM) monitors mutual relations between park position sensors 1 and 2. The TCM detects following conditions from the combinations of output (encode) from park position sensors 1 and 2.
- Parking lock pawl is engaged to the parking interlock gear: Park position sensor 1 output (encode) is '1' and park position sensor 2 output (encode) is '0'
- Parking lock pawl is disengaged to the parking interlock gear: Park position sensor 1 output (encode) is '0' and park position sensor 2 output (encode) is '1'
- Intermediate position (Parking lock pawl is neither engaged nor disengaged to the parking interlock gear): Park position sensor 1 output (encode) is '1' and park position sensor 2 output (encode) is '1'
If the combinations of output (encode) from park position sensors 1 and 2 is not as the defined combination for a specified duration, or if the combinations of output show as intermediate position for a specified duration, the TCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
One of these symptoms occurs:
Symptom 1
- Park position sensor 1 output (encode) is '0' and park position sensor 2 output (encode) is '0' for at least 6 seconds.
Symptom 2
- Park position sensor 1 output (encode) is '1' and park position sensor 2 output (encode) is '1' for at least 6 seconds.
Possible Cause
The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- Park position sensor PARKSEN1 line open (includes a loose or disconnected connector)
- Park position sensor PARKSEN2 line open (includes a loose or disconnected connector)
- Park position sensor VCC2 line open (includes a loose or disconnected connector)
- Park position sensor SG1 line open (includes a loose or disconnected connector)
- Park position sensor PARKSEN1 line short to park position sensor PARKSEN2 line
- Park position sensor PARKSEN1 line short to ground
- Park position sensor PARKSEN2 line short to ground
- Park position sensor VCC2 line short to ground
- Sensor unit failure (park position sensor)
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
- 1.
Start the engine.
- 2.
While pressing the brake pedal, shift the transmission to N position/mode for at least 10 seconds, and then shift to P position/mode for at least 10 seconds.
With the HDS
None.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the A/T gear position indicator blinks and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the TCM memory. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The A/T gear position indicator comes off by turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
