DTC P04C1
DTC P04C1: Fuel Fill Door Open Relay Control Circuit Low Voltage
General Description
The fuel fill door open relay is installed to switch the power source of the actuator for the fuel lid open control for refueling. The fuel fill door open relay is normally non-energized and the fuel lid is closed. The powertrain control module (PCM) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC when open signal is returned continuously for the prescribed time or more though open signal is not output to the fuel fill door open relay.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type
| Execution | Continuous |
| Sequence | None |
| Duration | 0.5 second or more |
| DTC Type | Two drive cycles, MIL on |
Enable Conditions
| Condition | Minimum | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| 12 volt battery voltage | 10 V | - |
Malfunction Threshold
The return signal is open for at least 0.5 seconds when the PCM outputs no signal to the fuel fill door open relay.
Possible Cause
- Fuel fill door open relay FUEL LID ACT RLY CL- line open
- Fuel fill door open relay FUEL LID ACT RLY CL- line short
- Fuel fill door open relay power supply line open
- Fuel fill door open relay open stuck
- PCM internal circuit failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
