DTC P04C2

DTC P04C2:  Fuel Fill Door Open Relay Control Circuit High Voltage

General Description

GHH416721Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.

The fuel fill door open relay is installed to switch the power source of the actuator for the fuel lid open control for refueling. The fuel fill door open relay is normally non-energized and the fuel lid is closed. The powertrain control module (PCM) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC when close signal is returned continuously for the prescribed time or more though open signal is output to the fuel fill door open relay.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

Execution Continuous
Sequence None
Duration 0.5 second or more
DTC Type Two drive cycles, MIL on

Enable Conditions

Condition Minimum Maximum
12 volt battery voltage 10 V -

Malfunction Threshold

The return signal is close for at least 0.5 seconds when the PCM outputs the open signal to the fuel fill door open relay.

Possible Cause

NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
  • Fuel fill door open relay FUEL LID ACT RLY CL- line short to power

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored.

Conditions for clearing the DTC

The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
