The power control unit (PCU) monitors the IGBT chip temperature sensor values to prevent malfunctions of the chip and other parts due to heat generation. The PCU calculates the difference in output temperature among the phases (U, V, W) of the IGBT chip temperature sensor at the generator motor side. If the difference is out of a specified value for a specified time, the motor control module in the PCU detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
