The power control unit (PCU) controls the motor output based on the motor phase current sensor signals. When the motor control module in the PCU malfunctions, there is a possibility that the motor torque cannot be controlled properly. If the difference between the commanded motor torque and the target motor torque is out of a specified value, the motor control module detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
