Serial Data Gateway Module Scan Tool Information
The Serial Data Gateway Module (SDGM) Scan Tool Data List contains all module parameters that are available on the scan tool. The list is arranged in alphabetical order. A given parameter may appear in any one of the data lists, and in some cases may appear more than once, or in more than one data list in order to group certain related parameters together.
Use the scan tool data values under the following conditions:
- The Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle is complete.
- The On-Board Diagnostics are functioning properly.
- There are no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) present.
Only the parameters listed below are referenced in this manual for diagnosis. If a scan tool displays other parameters, those values are not recommended by General Motors for use in diagnosis.
The scan tool values from a properly running vehicle may be used for comparison with the vehicle you are diagnosing. The values below represent a typical display recorded from a properly functioning system.
| Parameter | System State | Expected Value | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Operating Conditions: Engine at idle, upper radiator hose hot, closed throttle, transmission in Park, closed loop operation, accessories OFF, brake pedal not applied, Hood Open, State of charge 60-80 percent. | |||
| APM Wake up Status | Yes/No | Yes | This parameter displays the status of the discrete APM Wake up line that is driven by the SDGM. The parameter display range is Yes, No. |
| Instantaneous Drive Efficiency | % | Varies | This parameter displays a value calculated by the SDGM to control the driver efficiency gauge on the cluster. It gives directional feedback to the driver as to whether their driving style is moving towards or away from the desired efficiency. 0 is considered efficient driving. This parameter only works when the engine is running. The parameter display range is -100% to 100%. |
| Hybrid Mode Status | - | Varies | This parameter displays the actual operating condition determined by the HCP and stored by the SDGM to supply hybrid driver information to the Navigation Radio. The parameter display range is Accessory, Idle, Auto Stop, Battery 2WD, Battery 4WD, Hybrid 2WD, Hybrid 4WD, Engine 2WD, Engine 4WD, Charging 2WD, Charging 4WD. |
| Hybrid Crash Sensor 1 | No Crash/Crash Detected/Unavailable/Sensing Failed | No Crash | This parameter displays the condition being reported by the front end High Voltage Circuit Impact Detection sensor. The parameter display range is No Crash, Crash Detected, Unavailable, Sensing Failed. |
| Hybrid Crash Status | No Crash/Crash Detected. | No Crash | This parameter displays the latched condition of the SDGM in the event a crash has occurred. The parameter display range is No Crash, Crash Detected. |
| Hybrid Batt. Cooling Fan Command | % | Varies | This parameter displays the hybrid battery cooling fan speed in percent. The range is zero when stopped, to 100 percent when at full speed. The parameter indicates the maximum desirable fan speed as determined by the SDGM. This calculated value is sent to the BECM. The BECM controls the actual fan speed, though normally the controlled speed never exceeds the SDGM recommendation. |
| Output Control | Description |
|---|---|
| Crash Sensing Detected EEPROM Reset Control | The SDGM latches a Crash Event when reported by the HVCID. This data is also reported to the HCP in order to keep contactors from being closed until all high voltage components have been inspected for integrity. This control will clear a Crash Event stored in the SDGM as the Hybrid Crash Status. |
