Installation Procedure

  1. Install the SDM (1) to the floor studs (3) with 3 nuts (2).

    Tighten:  Tighten the SDM nuts to 9 N.m (79 lb in).

  3. Connect the electrical connector (2) to the SDM (1).
  4. Fold the carpet back down over the SDM.
  5. Install the floor console. Refer to Console Replacement (Small W/ Manual Transmission) or Console Replacement (Large W/ Manual or Automatic Trans.) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  6. IMPORTANT: The AIR BAG indicator may remain ON after the SDM has been replaced. DTC B1001 may set requiring the SDM part number to be set in multiple modules. If the indicator remains ON after enabling the SIR system, perform the diagnostic system check and follow the steps thoroughly to ensure that the SDM is set properly.
  7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 8 .
