Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 GMC Canyon and 2005 Chevrolet Colorado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    IMPORTANT: A new multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly will come precentered with a centering tab attached. Do NOT remove the centering tab until installation is complete. Failure to follow procedure will cause a misalignment to the SIR coil and centering will be required.
    If reusing the existing multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly, you must centering the SIR coil. Refer to centering the SIR coil assembly.

  1. Slide the multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly (2) onto the steering column.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Screw the 3 pan head tapping screws (1) into the multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly (2).

    Tighten:  Tighten the screws (1) to 3 N.m (30 lb in).

  4. Route the wire harness assembly down the steering column.

  6. Connect the multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly connector at the base of the column.
  7. Install the wire harness straps to the wire harness assembly.
  8. Remove the centering tab from the multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly.
  9. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement
  10. Install the steering wheel to the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  11. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3  in SIR.
