SERVICE INFORMATION

A large number of H3 Body Control Modules have been returned through the Warranty Parts Center and were found to have no trouble within the module. The two primary reasons for replacements as stated on the repair orders were (1) door ajar light on and (2) battery dead. The door ajar light is caused by the swing gate switch when the plunger is not sufficiently depressed when the swing gate is closed. The correct this condition, place an adhesive backed rubber patch approximately 3 mm thick on the inner panel of the swing gate where the switch plunger contacts the door. Do not replace the BCM. And secondly, when diagnosing a vehicle with a dead battery, be sure to follow all steps in SI Document 1471264 for a parasitic load test. Varying amounts of load are normal while the modules remain awake. BCM replacements are very expensive, so please do not replace one unless it has a confirmed fault.
