Removal Procedure

  1. Lower the window into the midgate.
    2. Fig 1: Separating Inner Midgate

  2. Remove the midgate inner panel. Refer to Midgate Inner Panel Replacement .
  3. Remove the midgate hinge finish covers. Refer to Midgate Hinge Finish Cover Replacement .

  4. Release the midgate latches, opening the midgate until the holes in the hinge assembly are aligned.
  5. Install 5 mm (0.196 in) pins (2) or an allen wrench through the holes in each hinge (1) to support the midgate.

  6. Remove the midgate window outer sealing strip. Refer to Midgate Window Outer Sealing Strip Replacement .

  7. Disconnect the electrical connector (3) to the defroster grid contact terminal.
  8. Loosen the bolts (1) retaining the window to the midgate window clamp.

  9. Remove the midgate window out through the top of the midgate assembly.
