Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac CTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the left hood hinge actuator.
- Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the high control circuit terminal A and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PIDS module.
- Test for less than 1 volt between the low control circuit terminal B and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PIDS module.
- Ignition OFF, test for infinite resistance between the high control circuit terminal A and ground.
- If not the specified value, test the circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PIDS module.
- Test for infinite resistance between the low control circuit terminal B and ground.
- If not the specified value, test the circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PIDS module.
- Test for less then 1 ohm of resistance between the high control circuit terminal A and ground.
- If not within the specified range, test the circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Test for less then 1 ohm of resistance between the low control circuit terminal B and ground.
- If not within the specified range, test the circuit for an open/high resistance.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the hood hinge actuator.
