Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 GMC Canyon and 2005 Chevrolet Colorado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Lightly lubricate the new lower fuel injector O-ring seals (4) with mineral oil GM P/N 9981704.
  2. Install the new O-ring seals (4) on the spray tip end of each fuel injector (3).

  3. Position the fuel rail to the cylinder head, inserting the spray tip ends of the fuel injectors.
    4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the fuel rail bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the fuel rail bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the fuel injector harness connector (2) to the engine wiring harness electrical connector.
  6. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement in Engine Mechanical-2.8L (LK5).

  7. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar)  in order to connect the EVAP purge hose (1) to the following:
    • The throttle control module (2)
    • The EVAP canister purge solenoid valve (3)

  8. Connect the atmospheric vent hose (2) to the following:
    • The air cleaner resonator (1)
    • The fuel pressure regulator (3)

  9. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Metal Collar)  in order to connect the following to the fuel rail:
    • The fuel return hose/pipe (1)
    • The fuel feed hose/pipe (2)
  10. Inspect for leaks.
    1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
    2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
    4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
