Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the steering linkage shock absorber. Refer to Steering Linkage Shock Absorber Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the steering linkage outer tie rods from the steering knuckles. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement .
  3. Fig 1: Idler Arm Ball Stud Nut

  4. Remove the pitman arm nut and discard it.

  6. Remove the idler arm nut and discard it.
  7. Separate the relay rod from the pitman arm and idler arm using puller J 24319-B  .
  8. Remove the relay rod from the vehicle.
  9. Inspect for any damage on the steering linkage components and repair or replace as needed.
  10. Clean all threads on the steering linkage components.
