B: Scan Tool Does Not Communicate With Abs System

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Hydraulic and Electronic Control Unit (HECU) harness connector. On 1999 models, check continuity of Yellow wire between DLC terminal No. 8 and HECU harness connector terminal No. 3. See Figure and Fig 1 . On 2000 models, check continuity of Yellow wire between DLC terminal No. 1 and HECU harness connector terminal No. 7. See Figure and Fig 2 . On all models, if continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Yellow wire.
  2. Turn ignition on. On 1999 models, measure voltage between body ground and HECU harness connector terminal No. 1 (Red wire). On 2000 models, measure voltage between body ground and HECU harness connector terminal No. 9 (Red wire). On all models, if battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short between battery and HECU. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Retest system.
  3. Turn ignition off. On 1999 models, check continuity between body ground and HECU harness connector terminal No. 18 (Black wire). On 2000 models, check continuity between body ground and HECU harness connector terminal No. 24 (Black wire). On all models, if continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open ground circuit and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Inspect HECU harness connector for poor connections. Repair as necessary and retest system. If connector is okay, replace HECU and retest system.
