Vehicle Speed Sensor: Description and Operation

Circuit Description

The vehicle speed sensor, which is installed on the speedometer driven gear in transaxle, provides a pulse signal to the ECM and the ECM calculates the vehicle speed.

With the ignition switch ON, battery voltage is supplied from fuse 8 to the vehicle speed sensor (VSS). The sensor is grounded by the BLK wire to G10.

Thwe vehicle speed sensor (VSS) intermittently grounds teh circuit which generates a pulsed signal in it. The number of pulses per minute increases/decreases with the speed of the car.
