Field Coil Test
- Check field coil continuity by connecting ohmmeter probes to field coil positive terminal and brush holder. See Fig 1 . See Replace field coil if continuity does not exist (open circuit).
- Check for grounded field coil by placing one ohmmeter probe on starter housing and other probe on field coil positive terminal. See Fig 2 . See If continuity is present, field coil is grounded and must be replaced.
