Test Procedure

  1. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Ensure that the charge indicator light is illuminated.
    2. NOTE: On Digital Volt-Ohmmeters (DVOM), it will be necessary to select diode test function. If the leads of the DVOM are not connected properly, there will be no reading on the ohmmeter. Be sure to connect the leads correctly.
  2. Disconnect pre-excitation resistor, located in passenger compartment junction block. Connect the positive lead of the DVOM to terminal No. 2 and the negative lead to terminal No. 1 of the pre-excitation resistor. See Figure .
