Component Inspection: Notes

Check ECM performance.
1. Turn the ignition switch "OFF".
2. Select "vehicle scopemeter" in the menu, and connect channel A of GDS with FR terminal of Generator harness connector.
3. Connect Channel B of GDS with C terminal of Generator harness connector.
4. Engine start. And check the signal waveforms. (Compare the signal waveform of electrical loads ON with OFF)
  (4) Engine start. And check the signal waveforms. (Compare the signal waveform of electrical loads ON with OFF) Specification:
5. Is the measured signal waveforms of Generator normal?
  YES
  - Go to next step as below.
  NO
  - Replace the ECM with an usable one and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace the ECM and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE ".
Generator check
1. Turn the ignition switch "OFF".
2. Check the tension of Generator belt.
3. Check corrosion, damage or looseness of Battery terminal and Generator terminal.
4. Engine start.
5. Operate electrical parts (Head lamp, Defoger, etc).
6. Measure the voltage at 2000rpm.
  Specification: Approx 12.5V ~ 14.5V
7. Is the measured voltage within specification?
  YES
  - Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector. Or, ECM memory was not cleared after repair. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, ending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR ".
  NO
  - Replace the Generator with an usable one and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace the Generator and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR ".
