Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Move the shift lever to "N".
  2. Turn ignition OFF switch and the disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  3. Remove the battery and battery tray.

    (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "BATTERY and BATTERY TRAY ")

  4. Disconnect the shift cable mounting nut (A).

  5. Remove the shift knob & boots (A).

  6. Remove the floor console assembly.

    (Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "FLOOR CONSOLE ASSEMBLY ")

  7. Remove the floor console air duct (A).

  8. Disconnect the connector (A).

  9. Disconnect the wiring clip (A).

  10. Remove the snap pin (A).

  11. Disconnect the shift cable end (A).

  12. Disconnect the shift cable socket (A).

  13. Loosen the nuts and then remove the cable retainer (A).

  14. Remove the shift cable by pulling it to inward.
