Repair Procedures: Removal

CAUTION:
  • Carefully install the clamp not to damage the hose.
  • Install the clamp in a correct direction not to be interfered with other parts.
  • After the installation, start the engine and then check if there are any leakages from the hose.
  • Be careful not to damage the parts located under the vehicle (floor under cover, fuel filter, fuel tank and canister) when raising the vehicle using the lift. (Refer to General Information - "LIFT AND SUPPORT POINTS ")
  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2. Remove the battery and battery tray.

    (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "BATTERY ")

  3. Remove the air duct and the air cleaner assembly.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")

  4. Disconnect the main connector (A), electronic shift actuator connector (B) and position sensor connector (C).

  5. Disconnect the wiring bracket (A).

  6. Remove the bolt (A) and then separate the wiring (B).

  7. Loosen the bolt (A) and then separate the wiring (B).

  8. Remove the ground line (A).

  9. Separate the ATF cooler hose (A).

  10. Remove the CKP sensor (A) after loosening the bolt.

  11. Remove the transaxle upper mounting bolts (A, B).

    Tightening torque: 

    1. 32.4 - 49.0 N.m (3.3 - 5.0 kgf.m, 23.9 - 36.2 lb-ft)
    2. 63.7 - 83.4 N.m (6.5 - 8.5 kgf.m, 47.0 - 61.5 lb-ft)

  12. Assemble the engine support fixture use a (Beam SST No..: 09200 - 3N000, Supporter SST No..: 09200-2S000, Adaptor SST No..: 09200-2W000).
  13. Using the engine support fixture, hold the engine and transaxle assembly safely.

    CAUTION:
    • After installing SST, check that the tightening nuts are surely tightened.
    • Support the jack (A) in the lower part of the engine safely when working underside of the transaxle.

  14. Remove the cover (A).

  15. Remove the transaxle mounting bracket bolts (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    107.9 - 127.5 N.m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb-ft)

  16. Loosen the transaxle support bracket mounting bolts and then removing the transaxle support bracket (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    58.9 - 78.5 N.m (6.0 - 8.0 kgfm, 43.4 - 57.9 lb-ft)

  17. Remove the engine room under cover.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  18. Remove the front sub frame.

    (Refer to Suspension System - "FRONT SUB FRAME ")

  19. Remove the driveshaft assembly.

    (Refer to Driveshaft and Axle - "FRONT DRIVESHAFT ")

  20. In case of 4WD vehicle, remove the transfer assembly.

    (Refer to 4 Wheel Drive System- "TRANSFER ASSEMBLY ")

  21. Disconnect the EOP (Electronic Oil Pump) connector (A).

  22. Remove the dust cover (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    39.2 - 46.1 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 28.9 - 33.9 lb-ft)

  23. Remove the torque converter mounting bolts (A) by rotating the crankshaft.

    Tightening torque: 

    45.1 - 52.0 N.m (4.6 - 5.3 kgf-m, 33.3 - 38.3 lb-ft)

  24. Remove the roll rod support bracket (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    49.0 - 68.6 N.m (5.0 - 7.0 kgfm, 36.2 - 50.6 lb-ft)

  25. Support the transaxle safely with a jack.
  26. Remove the starter mounting bolts (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb-ft)

  27. Loosen the transaxle lower mounting bolts (A, B).

    Tightening torque: 

    1. 39.2 - 46.1 N.m (4.0 - 4.7 kgf.m, 28.9 - 34.0 lb-ft)
    2. 78.5 - 98.1 N.m (8.0 - 10.0 kgf.m, 57.9 - 72.3 lb-ft)

  28. After separating the transaxle from the engine, remove the transaxle by lowering the jack slowly.
    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to damage other nearby systems or parts when removing the transaxle assembly.
