System Operation Check
NOTE:
Turning ignition switch to ACC position any time during system operation check will cancel procedure.
- Close all doors, engine hood and trunk lid. Turn ignition switch to OFF position, and remove key. If theft warning light remains off, go to step 3). If warning light does not remain off, go to next step.
- If theft warning light is continuously on (does not blink), check warning light circuit. See DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 2 under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS. If theft warning light blinks, perform procedures in DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 1-1 through DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 1-4 under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
- Open each door. Check if warning light blinks as door is opened. If light blinks, go to next step. If light does not blink, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 1-1 under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
- Open engine hood. Check if warning light blinks when hood is opened. If light blinks, go to next step. If light does not blink, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 1-2 under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
- Open trunk lid. Check if warning light blinks when trunk lid is opened. If light blinks, go to next step. If light does not blink, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 1-3 under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
- Remove each door and trunk lid key cylinder. Check if warning light blinks when key cylinder removed. If light blinks, go to next step. If light does not blink, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 1-4 under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
- Open all doors, trunk lid and engine hood. Remove all key cylinders. Check if warning light blinks. If warning light blinks, go to next step. If warning light does not blink, check warning light circuit. See DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 2 under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
- Lock doors without using key or multi-remote control. Close all doors, engine hood and trunk lid. Re-install all key cylinders. If theft warning light comes on, go to next step. If warning light does not come on, check door unlock sensor input signal. See DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 3 under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
- Unlock and open any door within 30 seconds after warning light comes on. Close and lock all doors using key or multi-remote control. If warning light comes on, go to next step. If warning light does not come on, check door lock switch input signal. See DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 4 under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
- Warning light should go off within 30 seconds after coming on. If warning light does not go off, replace theft warning control unit. If warning light goes off, unlock any door without using key or multi-remote control. Open door, trunk lid or engine hood. If alarm goes off (horn sounds and headlight flashes), go to next step. If alarm does not go off, check alarm output signal. See DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 5 under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
- Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine does not start, go to next step. If engine starts, check starter output signal. See DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 6 under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
- Lock and unlock door(s) and/or trunk lid using key or multi-remote control. If alarm shuts off, go to next step. If alarm does not shut off, check door/trunk lid unlock switch input signal. See DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 7 and DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 8 under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
- Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine starts, go to next step. If engine does not start, check starter output signal. See DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 6 under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
- Close all doors, hood and trunk lid. Lock doors using key or multi-remote control. After indicator light turns off, unlock and open any door without using key or multi-remote control. Alarm should sound. If alarm automatically shuts off after 2.5 minutes, go to next step. If alarm does not automatically shut off after 2.5 minutes, replace theft warning control unit.
- Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine does not start, go to next step. If engine starts, check starter output signal. See DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 6 under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
- Lock and unlock door(s) and/or trunk lid using key or multi-remote control. Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine starts, system is okay. If engine does not start, check starter output signal. See DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 6 under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
