Test 4: ASCD Steering Switch Check
- ASCD Steering Switch Circuit Check (With Nissan's CONSULT Scan Tool)
Using Nissan's CONSULT scan tool in DATA MONITOR mode, observe SET SW, RESUME/ACC SW and CANCEL SW on display. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC MODES . Scan tool should display ON with switch pressed, and OFF with switch released. If scan tool display is as specified, ASCD steering switch is okay. If scan tool display is not as specified, go to step 3 . - ASCD Steering Switch Circuit Check (Without Nissan's CONSULT Scan Tool)
Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect ASCD control unit harness connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Turn ASCD MAIN switch on. Measure voltage between ground and specified ASCD control unit harness connector terminal. See ASCD STEERING SWITCH VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS table. See Figure . If voltage is as specified, ASCD steering switch is okay. Press horn button. If horn does not operate, go to next step. If horn operates, check ASCD steering switch. See SWITCHES under COMPONENT TESTS. If ASCD steering switch is defective, replace ASCD steering switch. If ASCD steering switch is okay, repair open or short in harness between ASCD steering switch and ASCD control unit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . - Check for a faulty fuse No. 64 (15-amp) in power distribution box in engine compartment. Also check for a faulty horn relay, or open or short between relay and fuse. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary.
