Basic Inspection: Notes

Ensure following items are checked in order. Adjust as needed. Ensure no Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) exist before performing inspection. See SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - INTRODUCTION article. Ensure transmission is in Park or Neutral, all electrical accessories (headlights, A/C, rear window defogger, cooling fan, etc.) are turned off and steering wheel is in straight-ahead position.
- Preliminary Inspection. See PRELIMINARY INSPECTION .
- Check fast idle cam operation and adjustment (if applicable). See FAST IDLE CAM ADJUSTMENT .
- Check ignition timing. See IGNITION TIMING .
- Check base idle speed (if applicable). See IDLE SPEED .
- Check closed throttle position switch idle position. See CLOSED & WOT THROTTLE SWITCH INSPECTION .
- Reset TP sensor idle position memory. See TP SENSOR IDLE POSITION MEMORY .
- Check target idle speed. See IDLE SPEED .
