Security Light Check

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Smart Entrance Control Unit (SECU) harness connector. Measure voltage at terminal No. 31 (Brown/Yellow wire) at SECU harness connector. See Figure . If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, SECURITY light circuit is okay at this time.
  2. Check SECURITY light bulb. If bulb is okay, go to next step. If bulb is defective, replace SECURITY light bulb.
  3. Disconnect SECURITY light harness connector. Measure voltage at terminal No. 1 (Red/Green wire) at SECURITY light harness connector. If battery voltage exists, repair open or short in Brown/Yellow wire between SECURITY light and SECU. If battery voltage does not exist, check for the following and repair as necessary:
    • Faulty fuse No. 24 (7.5-amp) in instrument panel fuse box.
    • Open and/or short in Red/Green wire between instrument panel fuse box and SECURITY light.
