How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

HINT:

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 
  2. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE 

    Standard voltage: 11 to 14 V 

    If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding.

  3. CRANK ENGINE FOR MORE THAN 10 SECONDS 
  4. CHECK FOR DTC* 
    1. Check for DTCs and note any codes that are output (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).
    2. Clear the DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).
    3. Recheck for DTCs. Try to duplicate the DTC (SFI system and engine immobilizer system) by simulating the symptoms indicated by the DTC.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      SFI system (for 2UZ-FE) DTC is output B
      SFI system (for 3UR-FE) DTC is output C
      Engine immobilizer system DTC is output D

    B: Go to SFI SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    C: Go to SFI SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    D:  Go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 

    A: Go to Next Step 

  5. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
