Work Procedure
- START CAUTION: Note that the engine starts automatically when starting the Idle Air Volume Learning during engine stop control.
With CONSULT
GO TO 2.
Without CONSULT
GO TO 7.
- PRECONDITIONING-I
With CONSULT
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Select "HV BATTERY LEVEL" in "DATA MONITOR" mode of "EV/HEV".
- Check "HV BATTERY LEVEL" data monitor item indication.
Is the "HV BATTERY LEVEL" indicating 50% or more?
YES
GO TO 3.
NO
- Charge the Li-ion battery.
- GO TO 3.
- PRECONDITIONING-II
With CONSULT
- Select "COOLAN TEMP/S" in "DATA MONITOR" mode of "ENGINE" with CONSULT.
- Check "COOLAN TEMP/S" data monitor item indication.
Is the "COOLAN TEMP/S" indicating a temperature between 70 deg.C and 100 deg.C?
YES
GO TO 4.
NO
- Adjust Engine coolant temperature between 70 deg.C and 100 deg.C.NOTE: When warm engine up to normal operating temperature, perform "INSPECTION MODE 5". Refer to Description .
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- GO TO 4.
- PERFORM ACCELERATOR PEDAL RELEASED POSITION LEARNING
Perform Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning. Refer to Description .
GO TO 5.
- PERFORM THROTTLE VALVE CLOSED POSITION LEARNING
Perform Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning. Description .
GO TO 6.
- PERFORM IDLE AIR VOLUME LEARNING
With CONSULT
- Set the vehicle to READY.
- Make sure that all of the following conditions are satisfied.
- Li-ion battery charging status: 50% or more
- Engine coolant temperature: 70 - 100 deg.C (158 - 212 deg.F)
- Battery voltage: More than 12.9 V (At idle)
- Selector lever: P or N
- Electric load switch: OFF
(Air conditioner, headlamp, rear window defogger)
- Steering wheel: Neutral (Straight-ahead position)
- Vehicle speed: Stopped
- Transmission: Warmed-up (Drive vehicle for 10 minutes.)
- Select "IDLE AIR VOL LEARN" in "WORK SUPPORT" mode of "ENGINE" with CONSULT.
- Touch "START".NOTE: The engine starts automatically.
- Wait 20 seconds at idle.
Is "CMPLT" displayed on CONSULT screen?
YES
GO TO 12.
NO
GO TO 13.
- PRECONDITIONING-I
Without CONSULT
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check "Assist/charge gauge" in combination meter.
Is the "Assist/charge gauge" indicating battery power 50% or more?
YES
GO TO 8.
NO
- Charge the Li-ion battery.
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- GO TO 8.
- PRECONDITIONING-II
Without CONSULT
- Perform "INSPECTION MODE 5".
- Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
GO TO 9.
- PERFORM ACCELERATOR PEDAL RELEASED POSITION LEARNING
Perform Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning. Refer to Description .
GO TO 10.
- PERFORM THROTTLE VALVE CLOSED POSITION LEARNING
Perform Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning. Description .
GO TO 11.
- PERFORM IDLE AIR VOLUME LEARNING
Without CONSULT
NOTE:- It is better to count the time accurately with a clock.
- It is impossible to switch the diagnostic mode when an accelerator pedal position sensor circuit has a malfunction.
- Make sure that all of the following conditions are satisfied.
- Li-ion battery charging status: 50% or more
- Engine coolant temperature: 70 - 100 deg.C (158 - 212 deg.F)
- Battery voltage: More than 12.9 V (At idle)
- Selector lever: P or N
- Electric load switch: OFF
(Air conditioner, headlamp, rear window defogger)
- Steering wheel: Neutral (Straight-ahead position)
- Vehicle speed: Stopped
- Transmission: Warmed-up (Drive vehicle for 10 minutes.)
- Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
- Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ON and wait 3 seconds.
- Repeat the following procedure quickly five times within 5 seconds.
- Fully depress the accelerator pedal.
- Fully release the accelerator pedal.
- Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal for approx. 20 seconds until the MIL stops blinking and illuminates.
- Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the MIL illuminates.
- Set the vehicle to READY.
- Wait 20 seconds.
GO TO 12.
- CHECK IDLE SPEED AND IGNITION TIMING
- Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
- Let it idle for 20 seconds.
- Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure that idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications. Refer to Idle Speed and Ignition Timing .
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
INSPECTION END
NO
GO TO 13.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART-I
Check the following
- Check that throttle valve is fully closed.
- Check PCV valve operation.
- Check that downstream of throttle valve is free from air leakage.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 14.
NO
Repair or replace malfunctioning part.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART-II
Engine component parts and their installation condition are questionable. Check and eliminate the cause of the incident.
It is useful to perform "TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS - SPECIFICATION VALUE". Refer to Description .
If any of the following conditions occur after the engine has started, eliminate the cause of the incident and perform Idle Air Volume Learning again:
- Engine stalls.
- Erroneous idle.
