Knock Sensor

  1. Unplug leads of knock sensor at connector. Measure resistance between terminals with ohmmeter. Normal resistance should be 650-800 ohms. Measure continuity of wiring harness. Continuity (0 ohms) should be found between connector end of Black wire and terminal No. 28 of ECU plug.
  2. Continuity should exist between connector end of White wire and terminal No. 37 of ECU plug. Make sure that there is no continuity (open circuit) between terminal No. 37 of ECU plug and ground. If ignition timing is correct and engine produces heavy knocking, replace knock sensor. If knock continues, replace ECU.
