Throttle Position Sensor

  1. With engine off, turn starter switch to ON position. Remove water shield cover. DO NOT  remove connector.
  2. Throttle position sensor has 3 leads: Red for 5 volt power source, White for output and Black for GND. See Fig 1 .
  3. Place circuit tester positive probe in White wire terminal. Measure voltage at Red wire terminal. Voltage should be 4.5-5.5 volts.
  4. Measure voltage between Black wire terminal and White wire terminal. Voltage should be higher than 4 volts at idle position and lower than 2 volts at full throttle position. Ensure difference in voltage of idle position and full throttle position is 2.6-4.6 volts. If readings are not correct, replace throttle position sensor.
