Checking Fluid Level After Repair

CAUTION: DO NOT  hold steering wheel at full lock position for more than 5 seconds. Pump damage will result.
  1. Raise and support front of vehicle. Fill reservoir. Wait 2-3 minutes and refill reservoir. Start engine but do not turn steering wheel. Turn engine off. Check fluid level. Refill as necessary.
  2. Start engine and allow to idle. With engine at idle, turn steering wheel lock-to-lock several times. Turn engine off. Recheck fluid level. Add fluid (if needed). Lower vehicle. Turn steering wheel lock-to-lock with engine at idle.
  3. With wheels in straight-ahead position and engine off, look for fluid rising in reservoir. If fluid rises, air is trapped in system. Repeat previous step. If fluid is needed, fill reservoir and recheck. DO NOT  overfill.
