Dimmer Switch Circuit
- Turn ignition off. Carefully pry dimmer switch from dashboard. Dash light brightness controller is built into dimmer switch assembly. Unplug dimmer switch 3-pin connector.
- With headlight switch on or off, use a DVOM to check for continuity between dimmer switch 3-pin connector Black wire and ground. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire. Check ground connection G401 (under left side of dash). Check ground connection G403 (under right side of dash).
- With headlight switch on, use a DVOM to check for battery voltage between dimmer switch 3-pin connector Red/Black wire and ground. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace blown underhood fuse, faulty headlight switch or repair open Red/Black wire.
- With headlight switch on, use a jumper wire to ground dimmer switch 3-pin connector Red wire. If dash lights come on, dimmer switch circuits are okay. Replace dimmer switch. If dash lights do not come on, repair open in Red/Black wire or Red wire for dimmer switch 3-pin connector.
