Rear Case Assembly: Reassembly

  1. Apply engine oil to outer oil seal surface. Fill oil seal lip with proper lubricant. Install rear oil seal. Install front bearing front snap ring onto output shaft. Press on front bearing. Install front bearing rear snap ring and speedometer drive gear with ball. Press on rear bearing.
  2. Wrap splines of rear output shaft with vinyl tape and install into transfer rear case. Install front bearing front snap ring using snap ring pliers. Remove vinyl tape.
  3. Install ball and speedometer drive gear. Use press to install ball bearing onto output shaft. Install rear output shaft assembly into transfer rear case and install outer ball bearing. Install snap ring fully into transfer rear case groove.
