Wheel Alignment Specifications & Procedures: Adjustment: Caster

  1. Adjust by moving shims on front and rear of upper control arm ball joint until caster is within specifications.
  2. To increase caster, loosen bolts securing upper ball joint and move shims from rear of ball joint to front of ball joint. To decrease caster, reverse procedure. Transposing one shim 1/16" (1.6 mm) thick will alter the castor angle approximately 1/4°. Tighten ball joint attaching bolts and recheck caster angle.
