Set Speed Test
NOTE:
Before testing set speed operation, ensure actuator cable is adjusted so that the free play at the actuator does not exceed .040" (1 mm). The air gap at the speed transducer is .235-.315" (6-8 mm). The inhibit switch only operates in the "DRIVE" position.
- Turn main cruise switch to "ON" position. Drive vehicle at approximately 50 MPH. Engage cruise control and release accelerator pedal. Note and record speed which system is cruising.
- Press and release "SET" button, allow system to return to the cruise speed again. Note and record new cruise speed. If cruise control is operating normal, cruising speed should not increase or decrease. If cruise speed did change, adjust control unit.
- Remove rubber grommet from side of control unit and adjust set speed potentiometer using a screwdriver. Turn clockwise to increase or counterclockwise to decrease cruise speed. Repeat procedure until set speed is set correctly.
