Static Test

  1. Disconnect main harness multiplug connector from speed control unit. Connect Econocruise Tester (J98003) test leads to control unit and main harness plug. See Fig 1 .
  2. Turn ignition on. Move gear selector to "DRIVE" position. Turn main cruise control switch to "ON" position. Turn tester unit to "STATIC" position. Lights No. 1, No. 2, No. 5, No. 7 and No. 9 should illuminate.
  3. To check neutral gear override, move gear selector to "NEUTRAL" position. Tester light No. 8 should illuminate. To check set switch, press set switch button inward. Test light No. 3 should illuminate.
  4. To check "RESUME" position of main switch, press "RESUME". Test light No. 4 should illuminate. To check brake cancellation and safety switches, depress brake pedal. Test lights No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 should go out.
  5. If test light No. 5 and No. 6 illuminate at the same time, check for open circuit in brake light switch/brake light circuit. If brake light switch/brake light circuit is not good, speed control system will not function.
