Throttle Position Sensor: XJS

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove throttle linkage from throttle pulley assembly. Disconnect electrical connector from TPS. Remove 4 nuts and spring washers from throttle pulley assembly.
  2. Remove throttle pulley assembly from vehicle. Loosen 2 screws securing TPS. Insert a .050" (1.3 mm) feeler gauge between pulley and pulley stop.
  3. Connect an ohmmeter between terminals No. 12 and 17 of TPS. Rotate TPS until ohmmeter indicates infinity. Tighten TPS attaching screws.
  4. Remove feeler gauge. Ohmmeter should indicate continuity when pulley is closed against stop. Install throttle pulley assembly on vehicle.
